The wind and the sea obey him.
The plants obey him by producing seed after it’s kind
The animals obey him by multiplying and filling the earth
Sickness and disease obey him.
Leprosy obeys him.
Paralysis and fever obey him.
The sun, the moon, the stars and the planets obey him.
Morning and evening obey him.
The seasons obey him.
The demons of hell obey him.
Death itself obeys him.
And I disobey him?
Who do I think I am? Lord, forgive me; forgive my arrogance; forgive my self centeredness; forgive my rebellion; forgive my self worship. Do your work in me that I may fully obey you and worship you and you alone. I think to highly of myself. I am but a worm. Anything good in me, every skill, ability or quality I have is from you. I have no right to brag about or take pride in my abilities, my knowledge, my self. All praise honor and glory belong to you. All admiration, majesty and worship belong to you. You and you alone deserve the worship of mankind, of all creation. Nature has more wisdom and knowledge than mankind. Nature naturally testifies of You and worships you. Mankind rebels against you. Lord, pour out your spirit that I may appropriately honor, praise and worship you, the one who deserves it, the one and only one to whom it is due.
Lord, all things come from you. All our needs are supplied by you. You give the spring rain to water the earth causing the seeds to sprout. You give the warm sunshine causing them to grow to feed man and beast. You provide such an enormous variety of plants for food, an amazing assortment of fruits and vegetables, all with different flavors and aromas. Not only do they sustain life with such variety but you have also caused them to be pleasing to the eye. You give the seasons, a time for the earth and the soil to rest and rejuvenate after a season of fruitfulness. With this food you nourish our bodies which keep our hearts beating and our lungs absorbing oxygen so that our lives may be sustained. You place the very breath of life within us, your breath within us causing us to be spiritual beings. You have given us a spirit that yearns for you. A spirit that can only be satisfied by you. It is only in you that we find contentment and satisfaction. It is only in you that we are fulfilled. And yet my stubborn heart resists you, it fights against you. It wants to go it’s own way and do it’s own thing. A battle is constantly raging within me. But I have decided to follow Jesus. I have decided to surrender to you, to give my life to you. So whatever battle comes may I always surrender to you. Victory comes not from fighting but from surrendering. May I always be found faithful. But even this comes from you. Keep me Lord, keep me faithful, keep me surrendered, keep me obedient. Keep me in your arms. Pour out your grace and mercy upon me. Let your love envelope me and fill me to overflowing. Completely occupy my being with your spirit. All praise, honor, glory, majesty, power and wisdom belong to you. All hail the power of Jesus’ name.
